The Middle East has long been a tumultuous part of our world and sometimes hard for people in the United States to understand what is going on there.

In order to help promote understanding, cultural diversity, and an effort to offer a balanced overview, the Eastman International Club has arranged a series of presentations by speakers from various Middle Eastern countries with very diverse backgrounds. Each will share personal viewpoints and observations on modern life in their country (or region).

At a later, as yet undetermined date:
Dr Leila al-Imad , ETSU Professor for Middle Eastern Studies. She graduated from Beirut College for Women and the American University of Beirut and the University of New York. Dr al'Imad is a Associate Professor at ETSU, specializing in the history of the Middle East and has published The Fatimid Vizierate, 969-1172. Dr. al'Imad routinely makes trips to the Middle East to pursue her research.
